The Backstory:
In 2006 I had to have back surgery – three times! That left me bedbound for a while. Flat on my back, I could not do my usual artsy things: draw, paint, carve. I tried to learn jewelry making with wire and beads, but the beads rolled off onto the floor, leaving just the wire.
Just the wire. I twisted pieces of it together to form a little bird, which I loved. I immediately thought “What else can I make?”
I have been finding out “What else?” and loving it ever since. To keep our home from being overwhelmed by wire animals, birds, people, and yes, jewelry, I soon had to open an Etsy shop. I use the name my oldest son had chosen for his website just before his death: Sparkflight. https://www.etsy.com/shop/sparkflight
You can also see about a zillion photos of my work on my Flickr account at https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparkflight/collections.
This site shows some of my sold pieces. Interested in commissioning something? Just contact me.
